Sustainability / Materials & Traceability

Understanding the materials behind each garment.

Material selection starts from how the garment will be used and how it should look and feel.

From fibre to fabric

The textile stages before the garment.

Yarn and fabric choices shape how a garment looks, feels, and wears. They are agreed with the buyer during development. Images illustrate the textile process.

Yarn spinning

Fibre is drawn out and twisted into yarn. Yarn count, twist, and fibre content influence how a fabric knits or weaves, and how it feels and wears.

Fabric weaving

On a loom, warp yarns are interlaced with weft yarns to form woven cloth. The weave and finish determine the fabric’s weight, handle, and stability.

04Documentation

Identify document needs early.

If your programme needs material documentation, please say so in the brief so it can be considered when materials are selected.
